- Sometimes it seems like he dresses like Warhol and Basquiat at the same time. But I think it’s more accurate to say that Hockney and Basquiat and Hockney are doing kind of the same thing with clothes, just approaching it from opposite directions. They both wear expensive things and, and really wear them. They paint in their clothes, get them wrinkled. But, maybe they want to achieve opposite results? I should think more about what I’m trying to say here before I just try to make it a pithy footnote. Ugh. Better luck next time.
