- We were watching the Stanley Tucci Italy show the other day, and my lady wife said that Massimo Bottura was like the Italian version of me. What a compliment! I was like shit, I wish. Because, first of all, he’s figured out a thing that I haven’t yet, which is the precise, breezy white tee to wear under a suit jacket or blazer. I always end up with a graphic tee, because my plain white tees don’t seem to have quite the right texture, and because I just sort of default to dressing like a Stroke. And also: that’s his dope ass hotel restaurant there in the above picture. I need to get to work finding white tees and building a paradise life before I can claim to be the American version of Massimo Bottura.

I just got my second vaccination shot. The Pfizer Soze. The homie JP was headed in for his first.
Were there, he wondered, any side effects?
The side effect of the vaccine is this idea that enters your head, that you’ve been denying yourself, that you’ve abstained from thinking: that you could get back to your regular life, or some semblance thereof, pretty soon.
But not really soon. And anyway: you can’t. That life is over now. Things done changed.
And anyway, you don’t even remember what you’re supposed to do or how you’re supposed to act once you can get back to the world, however you find it.
So there’s this bored mourning period that starts when you get your first COVID shot.

I love this whole thing, but if the credits had rolled after 13 minutes or so, it would have been perfect. Like the first part of Electroma might be my favorite movie ever made. It’s shiny robots in a cool car driving through a beautiful landscape! What more do you want?
